Move Microsoft Multifactor Authentication (MFA) to a new phone

If you do not have your old phone, you will need to reach out to the helpdesk so they can remove the old phone from your account. You will not be able to progress until that is completed.

  1. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new phone if it is not already there.

  1. Open the authenticator on your new phone and press the + in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Work or School Account
  3. Click Sign In
  4. Enter your email address and press next
  5. Enter your password and press next
  6. You will be prompted to enter your MFA code which will be on your old phone.
  7. Once you complete the MFA the account will be added on your new phone.
  8. On your old phone click on your email address in the MFA app then click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
  9. Click Remove account and follow the prompts.
